Hobby Farms Magazine and Book Giveaway

Several weeks ago I was contacted by the editor of Hobby Farms/Bowtie Publications and asked to be their Featured Chicken Keeper in the upcoming issue of Chickens magazine. I immediately accepted! A huge fan of Hobby Farms, and especially their bimonthly Chickens publication, I was honored that I (and Fresh Eggs Daily) had somehow come up on their radar.

It's been hard keeping quiet and waiting patiently for the issue to be published, but it's finally here!  My issue arrived several days ago and I couldn't be more excited to read the article that resulted from my interview.

Keep reading to find out how to win a copy of the January/February issue of Hobby Farms Chickens magazine AND a  copy of Urban Farming published by Hobby Farms.

Hobby Farms Chickens dubbed me the 'Steele Magnolia' in the article, which really seems to fit me. I have been trying to come up with some kind of catchy 'handle' but nothing was coming to mind, so that works for me, and it really does kind of describe me pretty well. I guess my strong New England roots came through in the interview, along with my feminine side.  I am definitely a girlie-girl. I cry at the end of sad movies and even some commercials, I love to wear dresses and aprons, and I can't even bear to kill a mouse, but when push comes to shove, don't mess with my family, and if you give me a hammer, I can build you a really neat chicken coop!  So 'Steele Magnolia' it is.

I am also extremely excited to be featured in the same magazine (and in fact in back-to-back articles) as the author of one of my favorite cookbooks - Jennifer Trainer Thompson.  I have a copy of her The Fresh Egg Cookbook in my kitchen.  It's a wonderful cookbook and she shares a few of her recipes in the magazine.  Her Shirred Eggs are a personal favorite of mine also. [Click here to purchase The Fresh Eggs Cookbook]

Also, exciting, our sponsor Shop the Coop's ceramic heater is also highlighted on the Poultry Products page of this issue. The heater is a far safer alternative to the traditional heat lamps to keep your flock warm through the winter and it can also be used to keep water from freezing. [Read here for more information or to purchase.]

MAGAZINE GIVEAWAY

To celebrate my first feature article in a magazine, we are giving away copies of the magazine generously donated by Hobby Farms. I will sign each one to make them even more special for the winners.

To enter to win, visit Hobby Farms Chickens Magazine on Facebook and tell them that Fresh Eggs Daily sent you,  be sure you like Fresh Eggs Daily on Facebook, then leave a comment below telling me that you've done that.  That's it!  Winners will be chosen at random from all entrants who satisfy the entry requirement.

BOOK GIVEAWAY  We also are excited to be able to offer one lucky fan a copy of the book Urban Farming written by Thomas J. Fox and donated by the editors of Urban Farm Magazine.  A wonderful reference book, Urban Farming is a guide to 'Sustainable City Living in Your Backyard, in your Community, and in the World."  With sections on gardening, livestock, navigating city ordinances, DIY projects and more, this book would be a valuable addition to any homesteader's bookshelf.

To enter to win a copy of Urban Farming, simply share a photo of you (or a friend or family member) reading the January/February issue of Hobby Farms Chickens magazine.

Click below to upload your photo. You can share your Facebook photo, a photo from your blog, computer or from any photo hosting service.  One winner (US addresses only) will be chosen at random from all photos entered.

The book giveaway/photo contest is open until December 1st, so you have plenty of time to get your copy of the magazine and get your photo entered.  If you are having trouble finding a copy, try this: Where's My Magazine?

Thank you for being a fan of Fresh Eggs Daily and Hobby Farms.  I love all their magazines: Hobby Farms, Hobby Farms Home, Urban Farm, and of course Chickens magazine, and eagerly await each new issue.  If you don't already subscribe to these great magazines, here's your chance:
