A Week in Farm Photos November 3rd - 9th

It's autumn with a hint of winter here in Virginia. Frost on the ground in the mornings has forced me to pull out my lined barn jacket and gloves for morning chores.  By afternoon it's crisp and sunny. The leaves are turning, creating a kaleidoscope of fall colors .... and there's a chance of snow next week. Fall into farm life with us!

  3. What a beautiful place your farm is. Love those mitts, did you make them
I contacted you a while back about a chicken that has stopped laying, and you mentioned that she might be molting, but she doesn't seem to be. She's still not laying but always has a 'mess' on her backside feathers, Is it possible that a chicken can't make shell? She seems healthy and is definitely eating and drinking.

    1. Thanks Emma! I didn't knit the fingerless gloves, I bought them from the etsy shop Made by Meg. I love her stuff!

It's possible that your nonlayer has some kind of infection, or maybe isn't getting enough calcium. Does it look like egg yolk on her backside? You could try adding some liquid calcium to her water to see if that would help.
