As we head into this July 4th holiday weekend during which we celebrate our country's freedom from tyranny and oppression, I'm reminded how grateful I am for the freedoms allowed us. The freedom to raise chickens and grow our own food, the freedom to own firearms to protect our animals and families, the freedom to think and say what we like, state our opinions, and live life on our own terms. However those freedoms have an inherent dark side. Freedom of speech can evolve into haters and trolls spewing their garbage publicly online, and of course guns in the wrong hands sometimes leads to mass shootings and other hate crimes. So this weekend, appreciate your freedoms and use them for good not evil, be kind to others and always, always raise a backyard full of chickens.
