Blue Seal Feeds generously sponsored my trip and gave me some cool stuff to wear during the show! In between show appearances, I had breakfast at Cracker Barrel (and might have picked up a few "souvenirs" while I was there - they always have the BEST chicken stuff!) We also stopped at Yoder's Country Market in Madison where I had some of the best homemade ice cream I've ever tasted and of course we had to visit the petting zoo and see all the chickens, ducks, goats, bunnies, peacocks, guineas...
I was also treated to a visit to Sharp Rock Vineyards in Sperryville. Even though it's not grape season and the winery was technically closed to the public, we were able to have a private tasting and then I stayed at the adorable guest cottage on the vineyard grounds that night before heading to Salem for the second day of the show. As an aside, I might have picked up a few bottles of wine as souvenirs while I was there as well!
It was nice to go back to Virginia, especially considering it was 70 degrees there on Tuesday while Maine was in the throes of a bit of blizzard! I missed about a foot of snow here in Maine while I was gone, but fortunately was able to get back home safely Friday evening. And there was more excitement when I got home! I returned home to a brand new stove! I had been cooking on an old electric range since we moved in almost a year and a half ago, and I really, really have missed cooking on gas. My new LaCanche range has gas burners and an electric convection oven with a separate broiler. It arrived from France the week before and my husband coordinated the installation while I was gone. Now I can't wait to get cooking!
It was so much fun signing books and meeting so many of you at the Rockingham Cooperative show, but it's nice to be back home. Enjoy this peek at my week.
